The foundation seeks to embody engaged Buddhism, a spirituality that strives to take on responsibility. Our health, our happiness, depends on the health and happiness of mother earth and all sentient beings. Without this understanding, peace and healing can never be achieved. The insight into our mutual connectedness leads inevitably to a compassionate, prudent and non-violent behaviour.

"Interbeing", the name of the foundation, is a word created by Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh, to describe the non-dualistic nature, the interconnectedness of everything.
When we look deeply we come to realize that we are the earth, we will survive together, or not.

The effort of the foundation is based on the belief that social change, environmentalism and the protection of all sentient beings will only be possible if we simultaneously pursue a way of thinking that changes the understanding of ourselves in relation to the world.
This explains the three pillars of the foundation:

E D U C A T I O N

promotion of mindfulness as basis of all engaged action

H U M A N  R I G H T S

promotion of non-violence and social justice

E N V I R O N M E N T A L I S M

promotion of the preservation of our planet and its biodiversity

I dedicate the efforts of the foundation for insight, love and healing to my parents, Michael Gsänger und Jutta Gsänger-Hahn, may they be happy and free.
